About the Directorate

In order to effectively prepare the city of Astana to the coming Asian winter Games by decree number 35-847p of 25.07.2008 of mayor of Astana city in attached to the Department of Tourism, Physical Culture and Sports of Astana city created SUPC «Municipal Directorate of the 7th Winter Asian Games and the Torch Relay». At present Directorate is equipped with material-technical base, formed staff of the leading specialists in the sports and entertainment events, invited foreign consultants in the field of great sports forums.
In January of this year, by the decision number 35-25P of mayor of Astana city was created Organizing Committee of mayor of Astana city for preparing and staging of the 7-th Winter Asian Games 2011, which included almost all the leaders of city services. Developed and approved an action plan for the preparation of the capital structures of the city to the Asian Games. The implementation of the overall coordination of the preparation of the Games is responsible for Astana Direction of Winter Asian Games.

Start of Asian Games and Relay

An official of the 7th Winter Asian Games will take place from 30 January to 6 February 2011 in cities of Astana and Almaty. But actually Asian games will start earlier, as at 1^st January planed start of the Olympic flame relay - the project, which was initiated by Astana Directorate. On the night of 31 December to 1 January 2011 in Kuwait will be striked fire of Asian Games, at January 2, it will visit the Changchun city - the capital of 6 th Asian Winter Games, and at January 3 it will be delivered to the city of Almaty. After a solemn meeting of Fire, Relay will pass through the streets of the southern capital, and then go to the regions. Within 27 days fire will be traveling all over Kazakhstan and will come in Astana, at the time of the opening ceremony of the Asian Games.
Plan of Program of Asian Games in Astana
Program of the Asian Games in the city of Astana includes the following events:
- The meeting of the General Assembly of Olympic Council of Asia. (29 January 2011, the hotel «Reddison»);
- The ceremony of grand opening of the Asian Games.
(30 January, a new indoor stadium «Kazhymukan»);
- Event for speed-skating. (31 January to 5 February, skating stadium);
- Event for ice hockey for men.
(since January 28 to February 5, Sports Palace «Kazakhstan»).
* there are possible changes and additions in program of competition.
