7-th Asian Games | Astana Almaty 2011

For your help you will get more, you can develop different skills and learn to work in a team, to be a leader, make decisions, and undoubtedly will receive an invaluable experience in dealing with a lot of interesting people and a huge mass of new impressions.

      Volunteers of the 7th Asian Winter Games will be divided into 2 groups: key - leadership, and secondary - command. Each of the leaders builds his team, which will be from 5 - to 10 people, depending on the needs, goals and issues of the enshrined sectors.

Operation of volunteers of the Asiada 2011 will have 11 areas:
1. Administration
2. «Cultural Asiada» project
3. Ceremonies
4. Accreditation
5. Accompany to the athletes and officials
6. Translators
7. Accommodation service and tourism
8. Transport support
9. Medical support
10. Security
11. Public Relations, Media
Each of this area requires concrete skills and knowledge.

Administration

Work in this direction will be particularly interesting for those who wish to improve skills in management and administration area, opening possibilities of cooperation with all agencies and departments involved in the Asian Winter Games period.
The main task is to ensure a concerted operation, including the Headquarters of the Volunteer service.

1. Participants registration.
2. Analysis and processing of information concerning the work of Volunteer service staff.
3. Coordination of mobile staff and all volunteers involved in organizing and carrying out the events of the 7th Asian Winter Games.

«Cultural Asiada» project

These events include a program "Cultural Asiada", during which the Asian fashion week, various competitions and exhibitions on the national traditions of Asia are planned to take place.

1. Teamwork and volunteers recruiting.
2. Assist in event organization.
3. On-the-scene participation in the program.
4. Straight coordination with the responsible persons of the Astana and Almaty City administrations.
5. Work at exhibitions, fairs and other cultural events of Asiada 2011.

Ceremonies

One of the most important and outstanding events of Asiada 2011 - Opening Ceremony, which will take place in January 30, 2011 in Astana at the stadium named after Kazhimukan Munaitpasov.

1. Accommodation of guests and Media staff.
2. Direction of human flow.
3. Coordination and monitoring of athletes support groups, etc.
Participating in the organization of the Ceremonies will bring valuable experience in human resource management, improve the skills of teamwork, develop leadership skills, and learn to orient in unforeseen situations and to coordinate operation of all participants involved in the events.

Accreditation

The next area where volunteers help is needed - is accreditation. Accreditation is a recording and accounting of all guests and participants, as well as Media representatives.

1. Assist in the Accreditation centers.
2. Working with a registration base of participants, guests and Media personnel.
3. Issue of accreditation badges.
4. Database management.
You will be able to view the latest IT-technologies, to show yourself as a coordinator, to learn to make decisions by yourself, as well as develop communication skills through the interaction with the guests of Asiada 2011, most of them will be representatives from other countries.

Accompany to the athletes and officials

Arrival of nearly 5000 foreign visitors, as well as about 200 representatives of the Olympic Council of Asia and National Olympic Committees of Asia countries is planned.

1. Accompany high-ranking guest, delegations and athletes.
2. Assistance in translation, the provision of tourist routes and necessary information on the program of Asian Games.

Translators

From the above mention, during the recruitment of volunteers knowledge of English, Chinese, and Japanese, Korean, Arabic and other languages of the Asian continent is the one of the main factors.
Volunteers having good knowledge of foreign languages will be act as translators, allowing them to get language practice (for translation and interpretation with people who are not native speakers).

1. Providing translation services to the guests and participants if necessary.
2. Assistance in filing registration documents.
3. Helping athletes and officials in translation and interpretation

Accommodation service and tourism

At all times, Kazakhstan was famous for its hospitality, warmth and cordiality. In order to ensure maximum comfort of staying in our country, volunteers of the 7th Asian Winter Games will be actively involved in this area.

1. Arrival and departure of guests and participants at the airport and railway stations.
2. Work in hotels - help in registration of the check-in (check-out).
3. Help in the organization of vehicle on-site, across the town and competition facilities.
4. Provision of tourist routes to the sights of the city and any other necessary information.

Transport support

The success of the Asian Games directly depends on the smooth functioning of the transport system.

1. Accompanying guests and participants of Asiada 2011.
2. Timely transport supply.

Public Relations, Media

More than 500 Media representatives, who will also need volunteers support, are invited for coverage of the 7th Winter Asian Games in Kazakhstan.

1. Assistance in preparation of materials, press releases, information gathering.
2. Provide photo reports, mini-reports from the venue of events.
3. Assistance in broadcasting organization.
4. Check the Media at press conferences.
5. Participation and assistance in organizing of press conferences, interviews at the venue, accommodation and meetings of the commission.
6. The straight-line connection with the coordinators on-site.

Medical support

Volunteers of Asiada 2011 will be in the thick of events surrounded by a large mass of people, where critical, emergency situations are not excluded. Sometimes the ability to respond quickly, to support in a difficult minute and giving first aid can save lives.

Security

For keeping security volunteers provide assistance and support to the local security service, inform of any observed suspicious objects at the venue of the event.

Working as a volunteer of Asiada 2011 opens up new possibilities:
- an ability to get work experience, continuing education at the university and saving work place;
- an opportunity to improve foreign language skills;
- an ability to develop leadership skills, teamwork skills, as well as get a huge number of new contacts and relationships.

During the Asian Games 2011 excellent work conditions will be created, the Organizing Committee on a grant basis, will provide to volunteers: uniform, food, transport and communication services, as well as each volunteer will receive a personal book of Volunteer (PBV) - a document designed for registration of passed seminars and volunteer work experience. Since the registration PBV becomes the property of a volunteer and can be used in the work with other organizations.
After successful completion of the work all volunteers will receive a thank you letter.
